Scholarships for Working Students
The Green Legacy Scholarship
Balancing work, family, and school is challenging—but you don’t have to go it alone. The Green Legacy Scholars Scholarship is designed to support supports students who are balancing work, family responsibilities, or caregiving while pursuing a college degree.
You may apply if you:
- Live in Webb County or a contiguous Texas county
- Are attending or planning to attend:
- Texas A&M International University
- Laredo College
- University of Texas Education and Research Center at Laredo
- Work at least 20 hours per week or are the primary caregiver for immediate family
- Can provide proof of work or caregiving responsibilities
Scholarship Benefits:
- Covers tuition, books, fees, and, where applicable, trade certification costs
- Renewable until degree completion, up to 150 college credits or 12 semesters
- Wintermester, Maymester, and summer school are included in funding but excluded from the 12- semester maximum
Renewal Requirements:
- Maintain continuous enrollment and provide proof each semester by the LACF deadline
- Submit an annual personal impact report by July 15

- Submit Your Application – Complete the online application form to be considered.
- Interview – Selected applicants will be contacted for a brief interview to learn more about you.

- Each scholarship requires a separate application.
- Students must complete an application for each scholarship they wish to be considered for.
- Applications are submitted online through our scholarship portal.
- Some scholarships may require additional documentation (FAFSA, transcripts, letters of recommendation, etc.).
