Jefferson Awards is moving!
Thank you for your past support and participation in the Jefferson Awards sponsored by the Laredo Morning Times in collaboration with the Laredo Area Community Foundation. This is a vital effort in recognizing the hard work of your volunteers and the members of our community who make a difference every day! This prestigious recognition was established nationally in 1972 by Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis to recognize volunteerism and public service across America.
Starting this fall, we are doing things a little differently. The Jefferson Awards will be held in October and the winner submitted to Multiplying Good in advance of their March deadline. After much consideration, and a realistic look at the calendar, we recognize the challenge of making a nomination early in the year. We hope that moving the selection and event to early in the fourth quarter will make it easier for you to select a nominee.
We are grateful to International Bank of Commerce for again hosting the event at the IBC Annex Ballroom on October 18 at 6 pm. We look forward to a room full of amazing volunteers!
The person you nominate will be considered for selection as the Laredo Area Jefferson Award recipient. The winner of the Jefferson Award will then become part of the applicant pool for the National Award, and receives an all expense paid trip to be honored at a gala acknowledging other outstanding citizens. The winner’s sponsoring organization will receive a $1,500 unrestricted grant. Please honor your volunteers and the community by submitting your nomination by October 6.
